This is why I mainly watch/listen to alternative news sites. Only 'discovered' you accidentally on my car radio several months ago and continued off/on because I was just shocked to hear a consistently reasonable voice on CFRA which I can only take in very small doses. I did not know you were a lawyer nor did I know you were Black until I looked you up on Twitter. And then 'poof' you were gone... Thank you for your example of staying true to yourself and for being forthright and so gracious in your communications with Bell Media. Shame on these cowards. Everything seems to lead to Vanguard or Blackrock.

Really appreciate your courage. Looking forward to reading the next article you mentioned. It’s so disheartening how far away from actual freedom we have fallen as a country. Our inherent human rights and dignity seem to be constantly chipped away. Ms Angelou once wrote about never let the “ducks peck at you”. Paraphrasing; “If permitted, they will peck at you until you are nothing like you were at the start”. We are surrounded by “Ducks” unfortunately.

Thank you. Sharing this with many. How do we take a stand with the corporations?? I dont watch legacy media anymore but their coverage of truckers convoy has been deplorable. How should we voice our disgust if not toward the mouthpiece journo?

Graham Richardson and Lesley Roberts were talking about people's distrust of the media this morning on the radio. Random people will go down to check out the convoy protest downtown Ottawa and they see very positive things happen but the media reports it to be scary and dangerous. The words "siege", "under attack", "red zones" are words I would use when describing Syria, Beirut, etc. a few years ago but this is what I heard on the radio this morning, like a bunch of drama queens carrying on, making mountains out of mole hills. The protest has been very peaceful other than the honking horns but the spin we hear is obnoxious and untrue. The entire Covid news reporting has been terribly skewed. People are getting wise to the manipulation and the Leftist agenda and they aren't putting up with it.

Very important that you are writing about this. We must continue to fight for our freedoms and not take it for granted. Canada is not the country that I grew up in. We must not be afraid to ask questions and to delve for answers.

Sounds more likely that the person who contacted you about the "paid opportunity" was working off a list of Bell talent that hadn't been updated and didn't realise you'd been canned.

Jamil, you had the best show on radio! Thank you for the courage you showed in your shows and now your response to being fired. I’m thankful for your comments on Bell Media management vs journalists as I’ve never given that a lot of thought - fair enough. Nevertheless, you are showing in your actions and words the responsibility of an ethical journalist vs others who continue to parrot their boss’ talking points. I don’t see compliant journalists as undeserving of public scorn if they continue to promote “woke” culture, understanding they also have a boss behind them.

in a massive conglomerate isn't it reasonable that ctvnews doesn't know what NewsTalk1010 is doing versus some conspiracy? i think it's hanlon that said "Don’t ascribe to malice what can be plainly explained by incompetence". i'm not the bell defender but this constant view of grand conspiracies by "the Media" or the "Govt" is helping feed the polarization. We can and should critique govt policy without pointing to secret cabals.

Good for you Jamil, keep grinding!

Ummm…. I’m all for internet censorship. Free speech is overrated; the social contract needs to extend to the net. If you’re all for anarchy on the net, why not champion anarchy on the ground?

I don’t know what Evan Solomon is up to these days, but I’m sure it doesn’t compare to Hot Type. Those were the days of great journalism at CBC where they had great documentaries and Counterspin - hands down the best show to come out of any news network ever. If we are to return to that standard of journalism, and we’re serious about it, then we need to grudgingly accept the fact that anarchy on the net doesn’t work.

This is so bang on. Upper management hide behind the public faces. Seldomly (if ever) are they faced with witnessing the consequences of their decisions; let alone would they be held accountable. I can almost imagine the conversation that would have been had concerning your paid opportunity. "This will make Jamil go away" or "buy his silence." Bell's risk management team are likely working overtime on you, right now. Cannot wait for Part 3!
