Is the criminal justice system racist?

A conversation with the Manhattan Institute's Rafael Mangual, author of Criminal (In)Justice
2

On today's episode of The Jamil Jivani Podcast, we're joined by the Manhattan Institute's Rafael Mangual. He’s the author of an exciting new book, Criminal (In)Justice: What the Push for Decarceration and Depolicing Gets Wrong and Who it Hurts Most.

Rafael challenges many of the assumptions and narratives about the American criminal justice system, which is relevant for Canadians and others around the world whose countries are impacted by news stories in the United States. If we are to be prepared and equipped to understand the next American political movement that enters our borders demanding change, like Black Lives Matter did, then we need to better understand what exactly is going on in the U.S.

Rafael's insights are also relevant for how we fight crime in cities across the globe.
