I came across this American ministry that might interest you.

https://proverbs226.org/

It works towards reducing inmate recividism by connecting fathers to their children. It is a Christian organization. They are seeing amazing results here in South Carolina.

I really enjoyed the podcast. Your observations were insightful and thought-provoking.

A couple of thoughts, albeit not from Canada:

For an example of a neighborhood-level organization doing tremendous work tailored to the needs of a local community, I'd like to highlight Project H.O.O.D. (www.projecthood.org) in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, led by Pastor Corey Brooks of the New Beginnings Church.

As an aside, The Woodson Center (https://woodsoncenter.org) sponsors organizations like Project H.O.O.D. all over the U.S.

Also, I'd like to flag Braver Angels (www.braverangels.org) for any in your audience who are concerned about political polarization and interested in doing something about it. Braver Angels brings together people from different political perspectives for conversations designed to enhance mutual understanding, help participants see the humanity in each other, and enable them to find common ground, if it exists. Braver Angels does this by putting on free workshops that teach the skills needed for such conversations, and providing other free offerings that allow people to practice using those skills, and to learn more about polarization and complex issues that polarization prevents us from understanding well. The point of all of this isn't to change anyone's mind, but rather to change how we treat each other as fellow Americans.

I've been involved in Braver Angels for the last 18 months. I think it has the right answers and that, if the organization can scale, it will be successful in improving the health of our political discourse and culture. Heretofore, it has been a grassroots movement engaging at the community level. Yesterday, we also launched a new initiative called Braver Politics, where we will try to bring what we do to elected officials, candidates and their respective staffs.

Faith is different when it comes to you as an adult… it’s not something you learned at your mom’s knee but something that you came to. Something finally makes you hear the still, small voice of God.

I'm only halfway through this interview and I highly recommend it! Jamil makes excellent points about how government policy should foster independence rather than build up bureaucracy.
